THE BFI LONDON FILM FESTIVAL 2020 LINEUP IS ANNOUNCED!

This years London Film Festival lineup has been announced and we are excited to see the following client projects in the selection: Bassam Tariq’s MOGUL MOWGL which features Hair + Make Up Design by Bean Ellis and Additional Photography by Michael Paleodimos; Lena Dunham’s series INDUSTRY which Bean also designed; LIMBO, directed by Ben Sharrock, shot by DoP Nick Cooke, Production Design by Andy Drummond, Costume Design by Holly Rebecca and Eve Doherty as First Assistant Editor; Cathy Brady’s WILDFIRE cut by Editor Matteo Bini; Caroline Catz’ DELIA DERBYSHIRE: THE MYTHS AND LEGENDARY TAPES, costume design by Jo Thompson and Hair + Make Up for the teaser by My Alehammar; short film AN EVERYDAY ACT also shot by DoP Nick Cooke and cut by Editor Andonis Trattos; and Luna Carmoon’s SHAGBANDS lensed by DoP Rachel Clark.

This years LFF takes places between 7th - 18th of October with some in person screenings but with a largely online screenings.

After wonderful success with her short films, Cathy Brady’s feature debut WILDFIRE is underway and being edited by regular collaborator, Matteo Bini (pictured). The film is being produced by Cowboy Films, Film 4 and the BFI. Nika Mcguigan and Nora-Jane Noone star and play two sisters in a contemporary Ireland.

Isabella Eklöf’s breathtaking debut is showing tonight at LFF! Shot by echo’s Nadim Carlsen, this first feature is provocative and at times uncomfortable to watch, portraying male abuse and domination with stark contrast of the luscious Turkish Riviera as back-drop.

“THE OLD MAN AND THE GUN”: ECHO FESTIVAL FOCUS

THE OLD MAN AND THE GUN is having its European premiere at LFF tonight! Directed by David Lowery and shot by echo’s Joe Anderson, the film sees Robert Redford (soon to be retired) playing Forrest Tucker, the infamous criminal who escaped from San Quentin State Prison with a self-built kayak and committed his last bank robbery at the age of seventy-nine. Sissy Spacek and Casey Affleck star in the picture alongside Redford for a nostalgic dip into classic American independent cinema.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE ENTRIES AT THE OSCARS

WHAT WILL PEOPLE SAY has been submitted as Norway’s representative at the 91st Academy Awards. Deeply moving and stunningly shot by echo’s Nadim Carlsen this movie takes the audience onto an emotional roller coaster. Ali Abbasi’s BORDER, which was also shot by Nadim Carlsen is the Norwegian entry and Ciro Guerra and Cristina Gallego’s BIRDS OF PASSAGE, lensed by David Gallego, ADFC is the Columbian entry. We are also very proud to say that I AM NOT A WITCH has been submitted as this year’s UK entry, also shot by David Gallego, ADFC, with Costume Design by Holly Rebecca and Art Direction by Malin Lindholm. Fingers crossed, go team echo!

SHOOTING BEGINS ON "SICK(ER)"

The shoot is underway on the new Film London and BFI microwave feature SICK(ER) this week, to be directed by first time feature director Lucy Brydon. The story follows a mother with a serious eating disorder on her fight to get her estranged daughter back. Costume Designer, Natalie Humphries and Production Designer, Sarah Jenneson are collaborating on the project.

"BEAST" IN UK CINEMAS TODAY!

Nominated for the Sutherland Award for First Feature at the London Film Festival alongside being nominated for the Platform Prize at Toronto Film Festival, we are excited to announce the release of BEAST, which is out in UK cinemas today.  Directed by Michael Pearce and produced by Agile Films, Film4, BFI and Stray Bear Productions, the gripping thriller is set on the island of Jersey where Moll (Jessie Buckley), falls in love with Pascal (Johnny Flynn) who is suspected of being a serial killer. Featuring the incredible work of echo's Production Designer Laura Ellis Cricks, we are also pleased to announce that the film features equally incredible work from echo's new Costume Designer client, Jo Thompson. BEAST will be released in the US on May 11th.

"DARK RIVER" IS RELEASED IN UK CINEMAS TODAY!

Directed by Clio Barnard and co-edited by Luke Dunkley, the critically acclaimed film, DARK RIVER is officially out in UK cinemas today.  The film, produced by Moonspun Films, BFI and Film4 stars Ruth Wilson, Mark Stanley and Sean Bean to tell the story of a woman returning to her family farm to claim what she believes to be rightfully hers, despite being followed by her haunting past.

The BAFTAS are announced tonight! Best of luck for all echo clients with films nominated;  Costume Designer Holly Rebecca (pictured), Director of Photography David Gallego, ADFC and Art Director Malin Lindholm for their work on I AM NOT A WITCH as well as Costume Designer Guy Speranza for JAWBONE and Consulting Editor Jinx Godfrey on KINGDOM OF US, all nominated for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer.  GOD'S OWN COUNTRY has also been nominated for Outstanding British Film, with hair and make-up design by Bean EllisPADDINGTON 2, edited by Mark Everson, has been nominated for both Best Adapted Screenplay and Outstanding British Film and AAMIR, co-edited by Matteo Bini has been nominated for Best British Short Film. We'd also like to congratulate our new client,  Jon Henry Gordon, Hair Designer on PHANTOM THREAD which received four nominations.

MICROWAVE DEBUT "MARI" SHOOTS!

Georgia Parris' directorial feature debut, MARI is now shooting! Part of the Film London Microwave scheme and co-produced by BFI and BBC Films, MARI, also written by Parris, brings original choreography to the big screen as it follows contemporary dancer Charlotte on a personal journey that goes from her grandmother's deathbed to the prospect of motherhood.  With echo Hair + Make-Up Designer Bean Ellis, Costume Designer Holly Rebecca and Editor Napoleon Stratogiannakis all collaborating with Parris.

BIFA 2017 NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED

A huge congratulations to our clients and films with BIFA nominations! I AM NOT A WITCH was nominated for 12 awards, including Best British Independent Film, Best Costume Design for Holly Rebecca, and Best Cinematography for our DoP David Gallego, ADFCJAWBONE, featuring Costume Design by Guy Speranza, received 7 nominations, and GOD'S OWN COUNTRY, featuring Hair and Make Up by Bean Ellis, who will be joining ECHO at the end of this month, received 11 nominations, including Best British Independent Film. Editor Jinx Godfrey cut KINGDOM OF US, which received a Best Documentary nomination. The British Independent Film Awards will be on Sunday December 10th.

Congratulations to all ECHO clients who have films in this year's Camerimage International Film Festival! Screening in the Director's Debuts Competition is BORG/MCENROE directed by Janus Metz, and lensed by Niels Thastum, who has been nominated in the Music Videos Competition with Alt-J's IN COLD BLOOD, directed by Casper Balslev. Screening in the European Panorama section is Rungano Nyoni's I AM NOT A WITCH, with cinematography by David Gallego, ADFC (a film which features an ECHO collaboration with Holly Rebecca helming costume direction, and Malin Lindholm on art direction).

BIFA ANNOUNCES LONGLISTS

Congratulations to the films selected on the BIFA longlists today! I AM NOT A WITCH, directed and written by Rungano Nyoni, appeared in three categories including the Douglas Hickox Award for Debut Director, Best Debut Screenwriter, and Breakthrough Producer for the film's producer Emily Morgan. Shot by David Gallego, ADFC, the film features costume design by Holly Rebecca, and art direction by Malin Lindholm. JAWBONE directed by Thomas Napper and written by Johnny Harris featuring costume design by Guy Speranza has also been listed for the Douglas Hickox Award and Best Debut Screenwriter.  Writer and director Francis Lee is listed in both directing and screenwriting categories for GOD'S OWN COUNTRY, as were the film's producers Jack Tarling and Manon Ardisson in the Breakthrough Producer category. The film features hair and make up design by Bean Ellis, whom we are thrilled to announce will join the ECHO family on November 24th. CITY OF TINY LIGHTS, lensed by Director of Photography, Felix Wiedemann, BSC was listed for Most Promising Newcomer for actress Hannah Rae.

EMMA SCOTT BEGINS SHOOTING "IN FABRIC"  

Peter Strickland starts shooting on IN FABRIC today, a ghost story about a cursed dress in a department store. The project will feature Hair and Make Up design by Emma Scott, and will star BROADCHURCH's Marianne Jean-Baptiste. The film is co-financed by the BFI, the National Lottery, BBC Films and Rook Films.

With her distinctive satirical voice, director Rungano Nyoni's first feature tells the story of a young girl convicted of witchcraft in modern day Zambia. Lensed by David Gallego, ADFC, the film features costume direction by Holly Rebecca, and art direction by Malin Lindholm. I AM NOT A WITCH is being distributed by Curzon Artficial Eye and was screened at the Cannes Film Festival and more recently at the London Film Festival.
