ECHO’S DIANDRA FERREIRA WINS BEST MAKE-UP & HAIR DESIGN AT THE BIFA CRAFT AWARDS

We’re thrilled to celebrate our brilliant echo client Diandra Ferreira, who has won Best Make-Up + Hair Design for her exceptional work on ‘PILLION’ at the BIFA Crafts. The announcement was made yesterday, with the official ceremony taking place on the 30th of November.

Harry Lighton’s ‘PILLION' premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival and later screened at the BFI London Film Festival. Diandra’s bold, character-driven work plays a key role in defining the film’s intense and intimate atmosphere.

‘PILLION' follows Colin, a timid man who becomes entangled with Ray, a magnetic biker gang leader, embarking on a transformative and unconventional journey.

EUROPEAN FILM AWARDS ANNOUNCES THE 2025 SHORTLIST

The official shortlist for the 38th European Film Awards has been announced, and we are delighted to confirm that the work of echo clients is among the list of 67 impressive feature films.

Congratulations to the teams behind Laura Carreira’s ‘ON FALLING', with Production Design by echo’s Andy Drummond, and Harry Lighton’s ‘PILLION', featuring Hair + Make-Up Design by Diandra Ferreira and Production Design by Francesca Massariol, on this prestigious recognition.

Nominations for this year’s awards will be fully unveiled on the 18th November in Seville and the awards take place on the 17th January in Berlin!

BIFA ANNOUNCES THE 2025 LONGLIST

• ‘DREAMERS’ with Editing by echo’s Arttu Salmi, BFE, for which writer and director Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor was selected for Best Debut Screenwriter and The Douglas Hickox Award

• 'PILLION' featuring Hair + Make-Up Design by Diandra Ferreira and Production Design by Francesca Massariol, where writer and director Harry Lighton was picked for Best Debut Screenwriter and The Douglas Hickox Award

• ‘THE SON AND THE SEA’ showcasing cinematography by echo’s Ruben Woodin Dechamps, which made writer and director Stroma Cairns make the longlist for The Douglas Hickox Award and Best Debut Screenwriter alongside co-writer Imogen West.

Nominees will be announced on Monday 3rd November, with this year’s winner revealed at the BIFA awards ceremony on Sunday 30th November.

LONDON FILM FESTIVAL 2025: ‘PILLION’ AND ‘THE HISTORY OF SOUND’

Echo is proud to see Harry Lighton’s ‘PILLION’ and Oliver Hermanus' ‘THE HISTORY OF SOUND’ premiering in the UK this Saturday (18th October) at the 69th BFI London Film Festival.

Showcasing work by echo’s Hair + Make-Up Designer Diandra Ferreira and Production Designer Francesca Massariol, ‘PILLION’ stars Alexander Skarsgård and Harry Melling exploring power dynamics, intimacy and identity.

Starring Paul Mescal and Josh O'Connor, and featuring Costume Supervision (UK) by echo’s Paix Robinson, ‘THE HISTORY OF SOUND’ is a story about closeted love, music, passion and remembrance.

In May, these incredibly moving LGBTQ+ romance films made their successful run at the Cannes Film Festival, where ‘PILLION’ won the Un Certain Regard Award for Best Screenplay and ‘THE HISTORY OF SOUND’ was nominated for the Palme d'Or. Now, we are thrilled for them to make their UK debut tomorrow at London’s Southbank Centre as part of LFF’s ‘Headline Galas’ category.

'PILLION' IS PART OF THE 2025 TELLURIDE FILM FESTIVAL LINEUP

We are excited to announce that ‘PILLION’ is part of the Telluride Film Festival 2025 lineup, showcasing work by echo’s Hair + Make-Up Designer Diandra Ferreira and Production Designer Francesca Massariol.

After its success at the 78th Cannes Film Festival in May, where it earned a 7-minute standing ovation and the award for Best Screenplay (written by Harry Lighton) in Un Certain Regard, this British drama will have its US premiere in Colorado this weekend for Telluride’s 52nd run.

‘PILLION’ stars Alexander Skarsgård and Harry Melling and is produced by Cornerstone, Element Pictures, and BBC Film.

The Official Selection programme for the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival has just been announced!

Harry Lighton’s bold and highly-anticipated debut feature ‘PILLION’, featuring the work of echo’s Hair + Make-Up Designer, Diandra Ferreira and Production Designer, Francesca Massariol, will screen as part of Un Certain Regard during the festival.

Starring Harry Melling and Alexander Skarsgård and produced by Cornerstone, Element Pictures, BBC Film and aquired by A24 is based on Adam Mars-Jones's novel ‘Box Hill’.

We can’t wait to see it at the festival which runs from 14 – 25 May!
