ECHO WORK FEATURED IN THE GUARDIAN’S TOP 50 FILMS OF 2025!

We’re so excited to see lots of echo client's work recognised in the Guardian’s list of the Top 50 Best Films of 2025 (UK):

BLUE MOON’, directed by Richard Linklater and shot by echo’s Shane F. Kelly came in at number 50. Ethan Hawke stars as the lyricist Lorenz Hart who spirals into despair after his split from Richard Rodgers.

At number 48, we have Kirk Jones’s ‘I SWEAR’ with editing by echo’s Sam Sneade. This moving film tells the story of John Davidson, the man who taught Britain about Tourette.

DEAD OF WINTER’, directed by Brian Kirk with editing by echo’s Tim Murrell, placed at number 29. Emma Thompson takes on the role of a grieving widow who stumbles into mortal peril trying to help a young captive whilst stuck in a deadly storm.

Coming in at number 20, we have Laura Carreira’s debut drama ‘ON FALLING’, with Production Design by echo’s Andy Drummond, BFDG. Joana Santos stars as a Portuguese worker in a Scottish warehouse, who endures dehumanising work conditions while looking for a way out

HARD TRUTHS’, directed by Mike Leigh and featuring Hair and Make Up Design by echo’s Nora Robertson comes in at number 18. Marianne Jean-Baptiste excels as Pansy, a deeply angry and depressed woman whose unresolved trauma manifests as relentless conflict with her family.

And in at number 15, we have ‘PILLION’, directed by Harry Lighton and featuring Production Design by echo’s Francesca Massariol and Hair and Make-Up Design by echo’s Diandra Ferreira. Alexander Skarsgård and Harry Melling play unlikely lovers in this sweet British Drama adapted from Adam Mars-Jones’s novel Box Hill.

‘DOWN CEMETERY ROAD’ WITH CINEMATOGRAPHY BY ECHO’S NICK COOKE

Shot by echo’s Director of Photography Nick Cooke on the final three episodes, ‘DOWN CEMETERY ROAD’ is an eight-part series based on the novel by Mick Herron (‘Slow Horses’).

Starring Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson, the story follows private investigator Zoë and neighbour Sarah as they are drawn into a chilling government conspiracy after a house explodes in their Oxford neighbourhood and a young girl goes missing.

The series debuted on AppleTV+ on the 29th of October 2025 with the first two episodes, continuing weekly until the finale on the 10th of December 2025, and has already received critical acclaim, including ★★★★★ from The Guardian.

‘THE DEAD OF WINTER’ PREMIERES AT LOCARNO WITH EDITING BY ECHO’S TIM MURRELL

‘THE DEAD OF WINTER’ made its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival earlier this month, with Editing by echo client Tim Murrell.

Directed by Brian Kirk, the suspense thriller stars Emma Thompson as a woman travelling alone through snowbound northern Minnesota, who interrupts the kidnapping of a teenage girl. Hours from the nearest town and with no phone service, she soon realises she is the young girl’s only hope.

Already receiving rave acclaim, THE GUARDIAN praised the film as “an outrageously enjoyable suspense thriller” in its glowing 5 star review.
