Featuring Production Design by echo’s Alexandra Toomey and Hair + Make-Up Design by echo’s Natasha Lawes, VOTE GAVIN LYLE was directed by Academy Award-nominated Aneil Karia, and produced by Somesuch.

Encounters Film Festival 2026 selections MISSION, RENO and VOTE GAVIN LYLE feature work by echo clients.
MISSION, by BAFTA-winning director Paul Wright and starring George MacKay, was shot by echo’s Nick Cooke, and screened last week in its English Premiere.
RENO, director Rob Hifle’s sci-fi short, was edited by echo’s Sam Sneade BFE, screening in its European Premiere.
VOTE GAVIN LYLE, directed by Academy Award-winner Aneil Karia and starring Jack Lowden, features Production Design by echo’s Alex Toomey and Hair + Make-Up Design by echo’s Natasha Lawes.
Encounters 2026 took place in Bristol across last week, 23-27 Sept.

Congratulations to Director of Photography Stuart Bentley, BSC and Costume Designer Holly Rebecca for their work on THE LONG GOODBYE which won Best British Short at the London Critics Film Awards yesterday! The short was directed by Aneil Karia, stars and was written by Riz Ahmed and produced by Somesuch.

Sundance is officially underway and Aneil Karia’s SURGE will have it’s world premiere on Sunday! Karia’s debut feature is nominated for the Grand Dury Prize in the World Cinema competition and was shot by regular collaborator DoP Stuart Bentley, BSC and designed by Production Designer Alexandra Toomey. The film stars Ben Whishaw, as we follow his character on a a tense and tightly wound thriller that unfolds over 24 hours…
