ECHO'S BEST FILMS OF 2018: “ROMA”!
Last but definitely not least, our number 1 film of the year is Alfonso Cuarón’s ROMA!! This masterpiece of a movie could even make our all time favourite movies list. If you haven’t seen this beautiful, intimate film, the good news is that it is now on Netflix for you all to enjoy!
Special mention also goes to Hirokazu Koreeda’s SHOPLIFTERS and Pawel Pawlikowskis COLD WAR - if there was such a thing as a Top 12 then both would have been in our countdown too.

THE FAVOURITE is number 2 in our 2018 Best Films list! Yorgos Lanthimos’ most recent feature has topped critics lists worldwide and has already received countless nominations. With additional editing by echo’s Sam Sneade, it’s a brilliant, smart and fun movie with a fabulous cast. It’s out in the UK on the 1st of January!
"HAPPY NEW YEAR, COLIN BURSTEAD" IS RELEASED ON BBC TWO TONIGHT!
Ben Wheatley’s new feature HAPPY NEW YEAR, COLIN BURSTEAD is released today on BBC Two at 10.30pm! Wheatley has teamed up again with echo’s Costume Designer Emma Fryer and Hair + Make-Up Designer Emma Scott after working together on FREE FIRE. The film premiered at London Film Festival this year after making an exclusive deal with the BBC to house the film on the channel. Make sure to check it out!
ECHO'S BEST FILMS OF 2018: "BORDER"!
At number 3 in our Best Film list is the fabulous, unique fairytale BORDER which won our hearts at Cannes this year. Directed by Ali Abassi and shot by our very own Nadim Carlsen we are looking forward to a UK release next year.

The first episode of the highly anticipated new season of BLACK MIRROR is now available to stream on Netflix! David Slade’s BANDERSNATCH which features hair +make-up design by echo’s Kirstin Chalmers is the first ep for us to sink our teeth into. Enjoy!
ECHO'S BEST FILMS OF 2018: "DOGMAN"!
Matteo Garrone’s DOGMAN is number 4 on our list of 2018 Best Films. Garrone’s Palme d’Or nominated feature saw him return to the crime world where Marcello Fonte plays a sweet and servile part-time dog groomer / part-time coke dealer who can’t seem to cut ties with the neighbourhood menace.
"STAN & OLLIE" IS OUT IN THE US TODAY!
Jon S. Baird’s STAN & OLLIE is out in US cinemas today! Guy Speranza, echo’s brilliant Costume Designer, was at the helm to make sure Laurel and Hardy’s (Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly) iconic outfits were perfect. The film is a biographical tale of the comedy duo when they took on a demanding tour in post-war Britain. Don’t worry if you’re not in the US, the movie will be coming to UK cinemas on 11th January.
ECHO'S BEST FILMS OF 2018: "BIRDS OF PASSAGE"!
We’re at the halfway mark now. And flying in at number 5 of our Best Films of 2018 is the wonderful BIRDS OF PASSAGE! The fact that it was selected for Cannes, Toronto and London Film Festivals this year and will be at Sundance in January speaks for itself but Ciro Guerra and Cristina Gallego’s film is also beautifully shot by echo’s David Gallego, ADFC and is the official Colombian Foreign Language Entry at the Oscars.

Cory Finley’s THOROUGHBREDS, with Costume Design from echo’s fabulous Alex Bovaird has it’s Sky Premiere tonight at 10.35pm! The comedy, crime drama is Finley’s directional debut and stars Olivia Cooke and Anya Taylor-Joy.
ECHO'S BEST FILMS OF 2018: "IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK"!
Number 6 on our countdown of Best Films of 2018 is IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK! MOONLIGHT is a very hard act to follow, but director Barry Jenkins does this superbly with his take on the James Baldwin novel. Another powerful, beautiful movie that has all the makings of a classic.
ECHO'S BEST FILMS OF 2018: "RAY & LIZ"!
Today’s Top Film selection is the award winning RAY & LIZ. Written and directed by Turner Prize nominee Richard Billingham, the film is a very striking feature debut and an autobiographical account of Billingham’s parents and chaotic family life growing up.

"PAPILLON" IS RELEASED IN UK CINEMAS TODAY!
Michael Noer's re-make of the 1973 film PAPILLON is out in UK cinemas today. With brilliant Hair + Make-Up Design by echo’s Kirstin Chalmers, the film stars Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek as they attempt to escape from the notorious penal colony on Devil's Island.
ECHO'S BEST FILMS OF 2018: "LOS SILENCIOS"!
Moving through our list, at number 9 is Cannes 2018 Director’s Fortnight selectee, LOS SILENCIOS. Directed and written by Beatriz Seigner this thought provoking and emotional refugee story is beautiful to watch.
ECHO'S TOP FILMS OF 2018: "IN FABRIC"
2018 has been an amazing year of film and between now and New Year’s eve we are going to count you down through our top 10 films of the year!
At number 10 is Peter Strickland’s IN FABRIC! The dark, comedy horror had an amazing cast and crew to tell the creepy tale including echo’s Costume Designer Jo Thompson and Hair + Make-Up Designer Emma Scott.

"THE LONG SONG" IS OUT TONIGHT ON BBC ONE!
Mahalia Belo’s 3 part drama THE LONG SONG will be on BBC One tonight at 9pm. Shot by Belo’s regular collaborator echo’s DoPs, Chloë Thomson, the story (based on Andrea Levy’s novel) follows an enslaved woman living in Jamaica in 1838 in the last days before slavery is abolished. Starring Hayley Atwell and Lenny Henry, episodes 2 and 3 of the period drama will air at the same time on Wednesday and Thursday this week.

"THE CROWN" SERIES 2 COSTUMES EXHIBITION AT HEALS!
Echo’s Jane Petrie’s costume for series 2 of THE CROWN are being shown at Heals Costume Exhibition at Tottenham Court Road featuring five of the series’ costumes worn by Claire Foy, Vanessa Kirby, Lia Williams, Jodi Balfour and Alex Jennings.
