ECHO FESTIVAL FOCUS: "PERFECT 10"!
BFI London Film Festival 2019 kicks off today and as usual we will be documenting our client’s films through our Festival Focus series! First up is Eva Riley’s PERFECT 10 which has it’s World Premiere tomorrow! The first feature from Riley, who was nominated for the Palme d’Or at Cannes, features work from echo’s Production Designer Sarah Jenneson and Costume Designer Susie Coulthard.
EDITOR ALASTAIR REID FINISHES ON BBC "THE LUMINARIES"!
Editor, Alastair Reid, will soon finish on the BBC’s new mini-series THE LUMINARIES! Al is Supervising Editor on all episodes, based on Eleanor Catton’s Man Booker prize-winning novel. The series is directed by Claire McCarthy and stars Himesh Patel, Eva Green and Eve Hewson.
NADIM CARLSEN WRAPS NEXT WEEK ON "DO NOT HESITATE"!
Shariff Korver’s feature DO NOT HESITATE will wrap next week! The film, shot by echo’s Director of Photography Nadim Carlsen, follows 3 young soldiers left alone guarding a crashed bushmaster when their commanding officer suddenly disappears…
"JUDY" IS OUT IN THE US TODAY!
After screening to rave reviews at both TIFF and Telluride this year - JUDY is out today in the US! Rupert Goold’s highly anticipated biopic features Production Design by Kave Quinn and stars Renée Zellweger as Judy Garland.
Good news though UK - it opens here next week on 2nd October.
TBT: "BRIGITTE" AT VENICE FILM FESTIVAL!
Throwing it back to these beautiful images shot by Brigitte Lacombe from the short film BRIGITTE! The film, directed by Lynne Ramsay, screened at Venice earlier this month and features production design by Laura Ellis-Cricks and costume design by Sarah Blenkinsop. It is the 18th commission from Miu Miu Women’s Tales, the short film series that champions female directors to investigate vanity and femininity in the 21st century. SCOTTISH BAFTA NOMINATIONS 2019!
The nominations for this year’s Scottish BAFTAs are out! Congratulations to Production Designer Andy Drummond who designed Harry Wootliff’s ONLY YOU, which is nominated for Best Feature Film; and to Editor Alastair Reid for his work on THE CRY which is nominated for Best Scripted Television award.
The ceremony will take place in Glasgow on Sunday 3rd of November!

PRIMETIME EMMY WINNERS!
The Emmy’s were held over 2 weekends this year and the final winners were announced last night! Johan Renck’s CHERNOBYL, Edited by Jinx Godfrey and Simon Smith took home an amazing 10 awards including Simon’s win last weekend for Best Editing and Outstanding Limited Series which was announced yesterday. BLACK MIRROR: BANDERSNATCH which featured Hair + Make-Up Design by Kirstin Chalmers also won for Outstanding Television Movie.

"STAN + OLLIE" NOW AVAILABLE ON AMAZON PRIME!
BAFTA, BIFA and Golden Globe nominated film, STAN + OLLIE, is now available to watch on Amazon Prime! The 1950s costumes are designed by the ever brilliant Guy Speranza, who received a BIFA nomination for his work.
"BLACK SHEEP" IS NOMINATED FOR A GRIERSON AWARD!
BLACK SHEEP is nominated for Best Documentary Short at this year’s Grierson Awards! Directed by Ed Perkins, the film, which was also nominated for an Oscar this year, was shot by the brilliant Michael Paleodimos and features costume design by the wonderful Sharon Long.
The awards ceremony takes place in London on 14th of November!
CARLOS CATALAN SHOOTS "KILLING EVE" SEASON 3!
Echo Director of Photography, Carlos Catalan, is currently shooting episodes 3 + 4 of the new season of KILLING EVE! The third series of award winning drama should hopefully be on our screens next year.
EDITOR SIMON SMITH WINS AN EMMY FOR HIS WORK ON "CHERNOBYL"!
Huge Congratulations to echo’s Editor Simon Smith who won an Emmy last night for his work on CHERNOBYL! Simon cut episodes 2, 4 and co-edited 5 of Johan Renck’s critically acclaimed series but it was Simon’s work on episode 2 “Please Remain Calm” that took home the prize!
"TOP BOY" SEASON 3 IS OUT ON NETFLIX TODAY!!
The wait is over and Season 3 of award winning series TOP BOY lands on Netflix today! Director of Photography Joe Anderson and Editor Morten Højbjerg worked on eps 1-3 for Director Marcus Reinaldo Green, while DoP Chloë Thomson, BSC shot eps 4 + 5 for Director Nia Dacosta.

Echo Costume Designer, Emma Fryer, has been working hard prepping on THE GREAT for the last couple of months and the new 10 part series has now begun shooting! The show for Hulu, written by Tony McNamara (co-writer of THE FAVOURITE) will star Nicholas Hoult and Elle Fanning.

Gabriela Cowperthwaite’s THE FRIEND has it’s World Premiere at TIFF today! The film was shot by echo’s DoP Joe Anderson and with an all star cast of Dakota Johnson, Jason Segal, Casey Affleck and Gwendoline Christie.
ECHO FESTIVAL FOCUS: “A WHITE, WHITE DAY”!
TIFF is underway and after it’s World Premiere at Cannes back in May, Hlynur Palmason’s A WHITE, WHITE DAY will screen at the festival today. The film was beautifully shot by echo’s Director of Photography Maria von Hausswolff and is set in the raw and atmospheric Iceland countryside.
ECHO FESTIVAL FOCUS: "DOGS DON'T WEAR PANTS"!
Toronto Film Festival starts tomorrow and after it’s premiere at Cannes this year, DOG’S DON’T WEAR PANTS will screen on the opening day at the festival! Directed by J-P Valkeapää, this brilliant film was cut by echo’s new Editor client Mervi Junkonnen. Look out for the film also screening at BFI London Film Festival next month.
