CANNES LIONS ROUNDUP!

A different kind of Cannes Lions this year but still an exciting one! Congratulations to Aneil Karia who won a Gold Lion for Direction for THE LONG GOODBYE (pictured), shot by Stuart Bentley, BSC and costumes designed by Holly Rebecca. Further congrats again to Holly Rebecca Costume Designer for the MACMILLAN “WHATEVER IT TAKES” spot which picked up a Silver Lion in the Film category.

And of course well done to all shortlisted work, including Production Designer Jon Henson who was shortlisted for his design on SAINSBURY’S NICHOLAS THE SWEEP.

SING, FREETOWN is out today in UK cinemas! Directed by Clive Patterson and cut by echo Editor Mark Keady, the documentary follows two friends, a journalist and a theatre-maker, from Sierra Leone, one of the World’s poorest countries, when they attempt to put on an epic piece of national theatre to reclaim Africa from all the medias negative narratives.

"THE REASON I JUMP" IS OUT IN THE UK TOMORROW!

THE REASON I JUMP is out in UK cinemas tomorrow! Jerry Rothwell’s award winning Documentary, shot by echo’s DoP Ruben Woodin Dechamps, explores the experiences of non-speaking autistic people. It screened at Sundance and London Film Festivals and won Best Doc at the 2021 BIFAs. Make sure to go and check it out!

"I MAY DESTROY YOU" WINS BEST MINI-SERIES AT THE BAFTA TV AWARDS!

I MAY DESTROY YOU won both Best Mini-Series and Best Leading Actress for Michaela Coel at the BAFTA TV Awards last night! Congratulations to echo Editor John Dwelly who cut eps 6 and 12 of the series, and of course he also picked up a BAFTA for his work a couple of weeks ago.

TIME is on BBC One tonight at 9pm! Lewis Arnold’s three parter was cut by regular collaborator Sacha Szwarc and stars Sean Bean and Stephen Graham.

ANNE BOLEYN airs tonight at 9pm on Channel 5! The mini-series, directed by Lynsey Miller, was shot by echo Director of Photography Nick Cooke and airs over the next three nights. The three-parter charts the final few months of a pregnant Anne Boleyn.

THE BEAST MUST DIE is out on Brit Box today! Directed by Dome Karukoski and cut (eps 2 and 4) by echo Editor Dan Roberts, the crime thriller follows Cush Jumbo’s character as she tries to hunt down the man who killed her son.

EDITOR JOHN DWELLY WINS A BAFTA FOR "I MAY DESTROY YOU"!

We are so proud to congratulate Editor John Dwelly on his BAFTA win last night for his work on Michaela Coel’s I MAY DESTROY YOU! The show also picked up awards for Best Director and Writer.

The remaining BAFTA TV winners will be announced at a separate ceremony on 6th June.

You can now watch DELIA DERBYSHIRE: THE MYTHS AND LEGENDARY TAPES on BBC iPlayer. Caroline Catz’s biopic premiered at London Film Fest last year and combines both archival footage of Delia’s music with dramatisations that feed off the original material. Costumes were designed by Jo Thompson and Hair + Make-Up co-designed by My Alehammar.

"KHAITE" SHOT BY DOP SEAN PRICE WILLIAMS!

A couple of months on and we are still loving Sean Baker’s KHAITE spot, shot by echo’s brilliant DoP Sean Price Williams. The short film was shot on the streets of New York where supermodels, in beautiful Khaite clothing, replace the usual tough New York City gangs!

HIGH GROUND is out in the US today! Directed by Stephen Johnson and shot by echo’s DoP Andrew Commis, ACS the film screened at Berlin Film Festival and was also in competition at Camerimage last year. Hoping for a UK release soon!

CATCH "DANNY BOY" ON iPLAYER NOW!

If you missed DANNY BOY on the TV this week make sure you catch it on iPlayer! The film, brilliantly designed by echo Production Designer Malin Lindholm and Directed by Sam Miller, is based on the true story of soldier Brian Wood who was accused of war crimes in Iraq by the human rights lawyer Phil Shiner, played by Toby Jones.

THE "SOLOS" TRAILER IS HERE!

The trailer for new Amazon Prime series, SOLOS, is here! The show features a stellar cast including Helen Mirren and Morgan Freeman, and was cut by both echo Editors Luke Dunkley and Simon Smith. The series drops on Amazon on the 21st of May.

BAFTA TV NOMINATIONS 2021!

We are very excited to congratulate echo Editor John Dwelly for his BAFTA TV nomination for Best Editing on I MAY DESTROY YOU! The show also received multiple other nominations including Best Mini Series and Best Director for Michael Coel.

We are also pleased to congratulate Director of Photography Chloë Thomson, BSC for her work on ADULT MATERIAL, which received 4 nominations including Best Mini-Series; Editors Yan Miles, ACE and Morten Højbjerg who both cut episodes of THE CROWN which is nominated in multiple categories including Best Drama Series and a Best Director nod for Benjamin Caron; and Editor Richard Ketteridge who was Associate Editor on SMALL AXE which is nominated for Best Mini-Series as well as 14 other nominations!

The winners will be announced over two ceremonies, May 24th for the craft categories and June 6th programme awards.
