2021 GOLDEN GLOBE NOMINATIONS!
The Golden Globes nominations have been announced! Huge congratulations to Director of Photography Lachlan Milne, ACS who shot MINARI which has been nominated for Best Foreign Language Picture; and Emma Fryer who designed costumes for THE GREAT which has received a Best TV Series (Comedy or Musical) nomination.
The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on the 28th February, 2021.

SUNDANCE 2021
Sundance Film Festival 2021 is officially underway! Albeit in a different form to usual we are still excited that everyone has the opportunity to feast their eyes on our clients work over the next several days. Screening at the fest this year is Documentary MISHA AND THE WOLVES (pictured) shot by DoP Will Pugh; Ben Wheatley’s IN THE EARTH with costume design by Emma Fryer and hair + make-up design by Emma Scott; and Pascual Sisto’s JOHN AND THE HOLE with Costume Design by Alex Bovaird.
THE INDEPENDENT SPIRIT AWARD NOMINATIONS!
The Independent Spirit Award nominations are out and we are very pleased to see that MINARI (pictured) has been nominated for 6 awards including Best Feature and I MAY DESTROY YOU for Best New Scripted Series. MINARI was shot by echo’s Director of Photography Lachlan Milne, ACS and I MAY DESTROY YOU (eps 6 + 12) edited by John Dwelly. Congratulations!
The winners will be announced at the ceremony in LA on the 22nd April.
"IT'S A SIN" IS OUT TOMORROW!
IT’S A SIN is out tomorrow! Directed by Peter Hoar and written by Russell T. Davies, the mini-series was cut by echo Editor Sarah Brewerton. The five parter is set in the 80s at the height of the Aids crisis. All episodes will be available on All4 from tomorrow.
MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT "WHATEVER IT TAKES"!
The new advert for MACMILLAN “WHATEVER IT TAKES” has been released. The incredibly moving ad highlights the wonderful work and support its staff provide to patients and family in all moments of their treatment. The spot was directed by Jonathan Alric (one half of The Blaze), produced by Iconoclast and features costume design by Holly Rebecca.
"MAKE UP" IS STILL AVAILABLE ON BBC IPLAYER!
MAKE UP is still available on BBC iPlayer. If you haven’t seen Claire Oakley’s directional debut make sure you check it out. The film, which had rave reviews after its release last year, is shot beautifully by echo DoP Nick Cooke and cut by the brilliant Sacha Szwarc.
"THE GREAT" IS OUT ON CHANNEL 4!
THE GREAT is now available on Channel 4! The first episode aired last night and is now available to stream on All 4, eps will air every Sunday at 9pm. The brilliant costumes were designed by Emma Fryer (eps 2 - 10) and the first ep features Production Design by Kave Quinn and was cut by Nicolas Gaster.

Without further ado, our Number 1 TV/Film of the year is…I MAY DESTROY YOU! Michaela Coel’s triumph is probably one of the most talked about shows of the last few years. It is worthy of all it’s rave reviews and, we’re sure, soon to be many award nominations and wins! Not to mention the brilliant work of echo Editor John Dwelly who cut episodes 6 and 12.
ECHO BEST OF 2020: "LIMBO"!
LIMBO is the hugely deserved Number 2 on our Best of 2020 list! Ben Sharrock’s wonderful film was selected for Cannes, TIFF and London (amongst many others) and really stood out for us this year! It's unexpected, funny, sensitive and beautifully delivered. Besides all that it also showcases the talents of it’s brilliant cast and crew including DoP Nick Cooke, Production Designer Andy Drummond, Costume Designer Holly Rebecca and Assistant Editor Eve Doherty.
ECHO BEST OF 2020: "ROCKS"!
And we’ve hit the Top 3! Coming in hot is Sarah Gavron’s ROCKS! This empowering and uplifting film deserves every one of it’s 14 BIFA nominations and we definitely recommend catching it on Netflix if you haven’t seen it yet. Proud of Director of Photography Rachel Clark who shot 2nd Unit.

A standout for a lot of people in 2020, our Number 4 is NORMAL PEOPLE! This brilliant telling of Sally Rooney’s novel of the same name had us hooked from the first episode.
ECHO BEST OF 2020: "ADULT MATERIAL"!
Half way through our countdown, at Number 5 is ADULT MATERIAL! Dawn Shadforth’s mini-series was brilliant, funny and dark and we can’t not mention echo Director of Photography Chloë Thomson, BSC’s fabulous work.
"BLACK NARCISSUS" IS ON BBC ONE TONIGHT AT 9PM!
BLACK NARCISSUS is on tonight at 9pm! The mini-series will air over the next 3 nights on BBC One. This new adaption of the classic story is edited by Jinx Godfrey, ACE and features both Production and Costume Design by Kave Quinn. Don’t miss it!
ECHO BEST OF 2020: "SMALL AXE"!
It wouldn’t be a Best of 2020 list without Steve McQueen’s SMALL AXE! The series is number 6 on our countdown. Each film in the series was so wonderfully crafted and delivered. Richard Ketteridge was Associate Editor on both RED, WHITE AND BLUE and ALEX WHEATLE.

Number 7 on our Countdown is
Malgorzata Szumowska’s NEVER GONNA SNOW AGAIN. The film won best film at Venice this year and also screened at Camerimage and was a firm echo favourite from LFF.
ECHO BEST OF 2020: "UNDINE"!
UNDINE is Number 8 on our Best of 2020 list! Christian Petzold’s film was one of our favourites from this year’s London Film Festival and it also won Best Film at Berlin back in February. Beautifully done, the film was a must for this year’s countdown.
