After a highly lauded first season, THE CROWN returns for ten episodes tonight on Netflix with Jane Petrie helming costume design. Claire Foy reprises her role as Queen Elizabeth II as the series continues to explore her increasingly troubled relationship with Prince Philip, played by Matt Smith. Creator Peter Morgan is still on board with Stephen Daldry, Benjamin Caron, Philip Martin and Philippa Lowthorpe directing for Left Bank Pictures and Sony Pictures Television.
Sundance Film Festival has released the line up with several ECHO appearances. Claire McCarthy's twist on Hamlet, OPHELIA, cut by Luke Dunkley and starring Daisy Ridley, Naomi Watts and Clive Owen is in the "Premieres" programme. Luke has also co-edited Bart Layton's art heist story, AMERICAN ANIMALS, which will screen in the "US Dramatic Competition". Rungano Nyoni's acclaimed I AM NOT A WITCH, lensed by David Gallego with art direction by Malin Lindholm and costumes by Holly Rebecca, will screen in the "Spotlight" programme, along with director Michael Pearce's debut feature BEAST about a murder accusation in a small British island community, with production design helmed by Laura Ellis Cricks.
"GOOD TIME" RELEASED IN THE UK TODAY
Having received critical acclaim at Cannes International Film Festival, including a Palme D'Or nomination, A24's GOOD TIME, a thriller lensed by Sean Price Williams and directed by brothers Benny and Josh Safdie, opens in UK theaters today. Starring Jennifer Jason Leigh, the film follows an unrecognizable Robert Pattinson as a young man seeking to save his brother (Benny Safdie) from law enforcement after a botched bank robbery.
SEASON FOUR OF "PEAKY BLINDERS" PREMIERES TONIGHT AT 9PM ON BBC TWO
The award-winning television series starring Cillian Murphy, Paul Anderson, Joe Cole and newly joined Adrien Brody is returning for a fourth season. Set in the underground crime world of 1920s Birmingham, episodes 1, 3 and 5 of this season of the BBC drama have been cut by Dan Roberts, and directed by David Caffrey. Loz Schiavo continues with make up and hair design this season.
LACHLAN MILNE, ACS SHOOTS "LITTLE MONSTERS"
Abe Forsythe is set to write and direct this Australian Zombie project produced by Made Up Stories and Snoot Entertainment. Alexander England plays a failed musician who has volunteered to chaperone his nephew's kindergarten field trip, motivated by the company of the teacher, played by Lupita Nyong'o, who has also garnered the attentions of a children's show celebrity, played by Josh Gad. The scenario is of course complicated by a sudden zombie outbreak. Lensed by Lachlan Milne, ACS, the comedy is currently shooting in Sydney.
LAURA ELLIS CRICKS STARTS SHOOTING "THE DARK OUTSIDE"
Set in Snowdonia during the Industrial Revolution, director William McGregor's feature debut is a gothic fairy tale based on his short film WHO'S AFRAID OF THE WATER SPRITE, and is produced by Endor Productions, Rise Films and The BFI.
"PADDINGTON 2" RELEASED IN UK CINEMAS TODAY
Editor Mark Everson has cut director Paul King's PADDINGTON 2, the sequel to the Heyday Films and Studiocanal's 2014 PADDINGTON. This time around, Paddington will be completing various odd jobs to be able to save up for a special gift, which is then stolen. Sally Hawkins, Hugh Grant, and Brendan Gleeson complete the cast alongside Paddington himself, voiced by Ben Whishaw. The film will be released in the US on 12th January 2018.
MARJORIE PRIME OUT IN UK CINEMAS TODAY
Lensed by DoP Sean Price Williams, the Sundance Film Festival winning feature tells the story of an eighty-six-year-old Marjorie who spends her final, ailing days with a computerized version of her deceased husband. Starring Jon Hamm, Tim Robbins, Geena Davis and Lois Smith, the film is written and directed by Michael Almereyda and based on Jordan Harrison's Pulitzer Prize nominated play of the same name.
HARRY STYLES "KIWI" OUT NOW
Directed by US and produced by Academy Films, Harry Styles' new music promo KIWI is out now with costumes designed by Sharon Long.
CARLOS CATALAN NOMINATED FOR RTS AWARD
Congratulations to our cinematographer Carlos Catalan on his nomination for his work on the third series of BROADCHURCH by the Royal Television Society in the 'Best Photography in a Drama & Comedy' category.
THREE GIRLS, with costume design by Emma Fryer, has received three nominations, including 'Best Director' for Philippa Lowthorpe, and Julian Jarrold received a 'Best Director' nomination for WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION, lensed by Felix Wiedemann, BSC.
The awards will be presented in London on November 27th.
MORTEN HØJBJERG EDITS “TRUST”
Directed by Susanna White and produced by Timothy Bricknell, episodes 9 and 10 of the Danny Boyle FX Anthology Series starring Donald Sutherland as eccentric billionaire J. Paul Getty, are being cut by Morten Højbjerg. The series depicts the troubled Getty family, pivoting around the ordeal of J. Paul Getty III's 1973 kidnap in Italy. Hillary Swank plays his broke and desperate mother, with Michael Esper as his dysfunctional and negligent father. Executive producers are Simon Beaufoy, Danny Boyle (who will also direct the first installment), and Christian Colson.
FELIX WIEDEMANN NOMINATED FOR BSC AWARD
We are thrilled to congratulate our cinematographer Felix Wiedemann on his nomination for the British Society of Cinematographers Award for Best Cinematography in a TV Drama for BBC One's THE WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION, a mini-series directed by Julian Jarrold based on the classic Agatha Christie novel.

To the tune of Celine Dion's 'It's All Coming Back To Me Now', the New Zealand brewery gives a new comedic angle to the Speight's drinker in their new spot, lensed by Lachlan Milne, ACS. The ad features good comedy moments including disgustingly healthy smoothies, tyre-hauling mishaps, and a synchronised case of builder's bum. The Sweetshop produces with Mark Albiston directing.
"THE MAGICAL WORLD OF JUST EAT" AD RELEASED
Directed by Academy’s Si&Ad, THE MAGICAL WORLD OF JUST EAT features a cavalry of local chefs, anthropomorphic chop sticks, flying mopeds and an all singing and all dancing cast, choreographed by Litza Bixler. This Broadway style spectacular was lensed by Niels Thastum with costume design by Holly Rebecca.
BIFA 2017 NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED
A huge congratulations to our clients and films with BIFA nominations! I AM NOT A WITCH was nominated for 12 awards, including Best British Independent Film, Best Costume Design for Holly Rebecca, and Best Cinematography for our DoP David Gallego, ADFC. JAWBONE, featuring Costume Design by Guy Speranza, received 7 nominations, and GOD'S OWN COUNTRY, featuring Hair and Make Up by Bean Ellis, who will be joining ECHO at the end of this month, received 11 nominations, including Best British Independent Film. Editor Jinx Godfrey cut KINGDOM OF US, which received a Best Documentary nomination. The British Independent Film Awards will be on Sunday December 10th.
CAMERIMAGE ANNOUNCES 2017 LINEUP
Congratulations to all ECHO clients who have films in this year's Camerimage International Film Festival! Screening in the Director's Debuts Competition is BORG/MCENROE directed by Janus Metz, and lensed by Niels Thastum, who has been nominated in the Music Videos Competition with Alt-J's IN COLD BLOOD, directed by Casper Balslev. Screening in the European Panorama section is Rungano Nyoni's I AM NOT A WITCH, with cinematography by David Gallego, ADFC (a film which features an ECHO collaboration with Holly Rebecca helming costume direction, and Malin Lindholm on art direction).
BIFA ANNOUNCES LONGLISTS
Congratulations to the films selected on the BIFA longlists today! I AM NOT A WITCH, directed and written by Rungano Nyoni, appeared in three categories including the Douglas Hickox Award for Debut Director, Best Debut Screenwriter, and Breakthrough Producer for the film's producer Emily Morgan. Shot by David Gallego, ADFC, the film features costume design by Holly Rebecca, and art direction by Malin Lindholm. JAWBONE directed by Thomas Napper and written by Johnny Harris featuring costume design by Guy Speranza has also been listed for the Douglas Hickox Award and Best Debut Screenwriter. Writer and director Francis Lee is listed in both directing and screenwriting categories for GOD'S OWN COUNTRY, as were the film's producers Jack Tarling and Manon Ardisson in the Breakthrough Producer category. The film features hair and make up design by Bean Ellis, whom we are thrilled to announce will join the ECHO family on November 24th. CITY OF TINY LIGHTS, lensed by Director of Photography, Felix Wiedemann, BSC was listed for Most Promising Newcomer for actress Hannah Rae.
EMMA SCOTT BEGINS SHOOTING "IN FABRIC"
Peter Strickland starts shooting on IN FABRIC today, a ghost story about a cursed dress in a department store. The project will feature Hair and Make Up design by Emma Scott, and will star BROADCHURCH's Marianne Jean-Baptiste. The film is co-financed by the BFI, the National Lottery, BBC Films and Rook Films.

With her distinctive satirical voice, director Rungano Nyoni's first feature tells the story of a young girl convicted of witchcraft in modern day Zambia. Lensed by David Gallego, ADFC, the film features costume direction by Holly Rebecca, and art direction by Malin Lindholm. I AM NOT A WITCH is being distributed by Curzon Artficial Eye and was screened at the Cannes Film Festival and more recently at the London Film Festival.
